Mpigi District: Climate Smart Urban Development Initiative.

Urban expansion in Kampala results in suboptimal and uneven infrastructure services to expanding urban and peri urban populations, and these while facing the increasing impacts of climate change. The Ugandan authorities are willing to plan a climate-resilient urbanization in the Mpigi District. This project is aiming to be a change driver, with a clear methodology that puts population projections and climate smart solutions at the centre of the urban planning and infrastructure services provision. 

The UMDF is engaged in supporting a feasibility study and detailed designs for the Climate Smart Urban Development Initiative, to mature the investment-readiness of the project.
