The Cotonou port area, in Benin, experiences high transit time leading to increased costs of transporting goods between the port and load centres. The project of expansion of the port, supported by the AfDB, is aiming at reducing transit time and improving working conditions. A market study will allow an early validation of the projected traffic growth, its impact on the urban environment and provide mitigation measures.
The UMDF has supported this project by financing the market study to mature the Cotonou port expansion project, contributing to the obtention of a 80 millions USD AfDB loan.
