In 2022 the city officially joined the African Cities Program. During the ninth Africities summit in Kisumu, an engagement was held with the Kisumu Lakefront Development Corporation, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to transform the city by leveraging the lake to attract new investments.
The UMDF and the AfDB are engaged in supporting a city diagnostic and preparatory studies to design a global mobility plan, paving the way for well targeted investments.
